1997 Land Rover Defender 90
This is a terrific example of the 1997 Defender 90, it being the final year of US production. That year the Defender 90 powerplant was boosted from 3.9 liter power plant to a 4.0 liter displacement utilizing the same V8 block. Along with that displacement increase, this Defender 90, with the identity stamp #1396 on the right rear panel an having traveled just over 90,000 miles, is even more desirable with the 4-speed automatic transmission.
This Defender 90 should not to be confused with the Wagon, as this is the "SoftTop" model (which looks every bit as capable as it is) with a hard to source factory removable Hard Top.
The only modifications to this Defender are the additions of the Hard Top, an aftermarket upgraded stereo head unit, an ARB Full front crash bar, and an ARB front/rear locking differential powered by a compresser located underneath the front passenger seat.
The Carfax is clean, showing no accidents or issues, and it to be a California vehicle since 2006 (and 65,072 miles), with regular maintenance and servicing in San Francisco Bay Area.
The AA Yellow paint is factory-original, with our paint meter showing between 3.4mm and 5.2mm thickness around. The BF Goodrich tires are in great condition, and have significant life and tread left in them. Also, the rear-mounted spare tire is brand new. The wheels are true and show no curb rash. The aluminium horizontal front fender / hood trim is intact, and adds to the vehicles sense of purpose. Also, the Defender 90 passed SMOG as recently as May 15, 2014 with no issues at all.
This is a fantastic example of an value appreciating Land Rover, it being the final-year production run of a sought after and massively capable and classic 4x4, perfect for the California climate...especially in it's Soft Top configuration!
