2000 Porsche 911 Carrera C2
2000 Porsche Carrera. Black with a Black interior. 6-Speed manual transmission.
The new 996 Porsche was released in 1999 and is still immediately recognizable as a 911. The newly redesigned body is 7 inches longer than the 993 and has all new sheet metal, while it retains the fastback rear roof and silhouette of its forerunners. Featuring a completely new interior, the 996 is more luxurious and provides a well balanced ergonomic layout. Most of the additional 7 inches where incorporated into the interior space provided room for the taller driving enthusiast. One key change that Porschephiles will notice quickly from behind the wheel: The brake and clutch pedals are suspended instead of being mounted to the floor. The accelerator pedal is still floor-mounted.
Probably the most noteable change with the introduction of the new model is the water-cooled engine. This Carrera engine is a 3.4-liter six-cylinder with horizontally opposed cylinders and with 300 horsepower, a gain of 18 HP over the previous 993 model.
